Settings
Configure Z-Text to match your preferences. All settings are stored locally on your device.
General Settings
- Language -- choose from supported languages for the app interface
- Currency display -- set the fiat currency for balance reference display (USD, EUR, etc.)
- Theme -- switch between light and dark mode
- Notifications -- enable or disable push notifications for new messages and transactions
- Auto-lock timeout -- set how long the app stays unlocked when in the background
Privacy Settings
- Screen lock protection -- blur the app content in the app switcher/recents view
- Biometric authentication -- enable fingerprint or Face ID
- Change PIN -- update your 6-digit security PIN
- Auto-shield -- automatically move transparent funds to your shielded address
Auto-Shield
Enabling auto-shield ensures all your funds benefit from privacy protection. When BTCZ arrives at your t-address, the app automatically shields it to your z-address.
Network Settings
- Node selection -- choose which BitcoinZ nodes to connect to, or add custom nodes
- Connection type -- select between light client mode (faster sync, less data) and full node mode (complete verification)
- Tor integration -- route blockchain connections through Tor for additional IP privacy (when available)
Light vs Full Node
Light client mode syncs faster and uses less bandwidth by trusting full nodes for block verification. Full node mode verifies everything independently but requires more storage and bandwidth.
Backup & Recovery
Seed Phrase Export
You can view your 24-word seed phrase at any time by navigating to Settings and entering your PIN. This is useful if you need to make a new backup.
Wallet Recovery
To recover a wallet on a new device:
- Install Z-Text on the new device
- Select Restore Wallet instead of creating a new one
- Enter your 24-word seed phrase
- Set a new PIN
- The app will scan the blockchain to rebuild your balance and message history
Recovery Time
Wallet recovery requires scanning the blockchain from the wallet's birthday height. This can take significant time depending on the wallet age. Premium users can use cloud backup for faster recovery.
